3" Native Float Copper (MS-317)

Item #MS-317: 3" Native Float Copper. Michigan “float” Copper has been picked up and moved by a glacier, and in so doing, many have areas smoothed by abrasion against sand, gravel and other stones. The last glacier in this area was about 10,000 years ago. The cross sections of native Float Copper run across the natural ore. Where they have been exposed to the soil, water and air near the surface, they build up a rich patina on the Copper. The highly polished surfaces contrast with the natural green oxidation color.
